The iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max had shockingly thin bezels, but Apple is rumored to go the extra mile with the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max, with up to a 40 percent reduction in this area, giving both flagships an impressive ‘screen to body’ ratio. We have reported that both flagships are said to ship with bigger displays, and with the bezels getting reduced further, it will not substantially increase the footprint of both handsets, making them easier to carry around and use comfortably.
With the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max, we should see Apple introduce a 6.3-inch and 6.9-inch display, respectively, making it the first time in years that the company pursued an increase in the panel size. As for their bezels, a Weibo account with the handle Setsuna Digital claims that we could see Apple targeting a measurement of as low as 1.15mm, but for the larger iPhone 16 Pro Max. With the smaller iPhone 16 Pro, the rumor says that the bezels would measure 1.20mm, which is still unbelievably thin.
The rumor does not provide insight as to how Apple, its design, and engineering teams will accomplish this feat, but an earlier report stated that the technology giant will adopt ‘Border Reduction Structure’ technology to make this possible. Previously, separately published information mentioned that Apple was exploring a technique called ‘low-injection pressure over-molding’ (LIPO), but it appears that Apple may have abandoned the latter for something that could deliver better results.
It is unknown if employing this technology will force Apple to raise the iPhone 16 Pro’s and iPhone 16 Pro Max’s starting price due to the sheer amount of effort and resources required, but we have heard on a multitude of occasions
