Final Fantasy Brave Exvius: War of the Visions will soon drop a new update and it looks kind of grim for global players. It’s not a biggie (or is it?) but the devs are taking a new turn with the Final Fantasy BE: WOTV English voice-over. They’re ending all English VOs for the global version of Final Fantasy BE: WOTV.
This move was taken by the team as they’re switching gears by focusing solely on Japanese-language voice-overs for all the new stuff coming our way. The last chunk of content in Final Fantasy BE: WOTV with English voice-over will be Part 3, Chapter 8 of the main story and Chapter 3, Scene 7 of Another Story. Also, the unit Ashen King Mont will be the last unit to speak English.
Anything that will be released after these chapters will be purely in Japanese. Don’t worry if you’re a player who loves the Final Fantasy BE: WOTV English voice-over. All the existing English-voiced content won’t be going anywhere. But to be honest, starting with an English voice-over and then nixing it later isn’t a crowd-pleaser. Even for those who don’t usually go for the English dub.
It hasn’t been much time since War of the Visions launched globally. It launched in Japan in November 2019 and globally in March 2020. The global version’s dialogues were fully voice-acted, giving you a choice between English and Japanese audio, at least up until now.
While the devs haven’t said anything about it, it’s a bit obvious that such moves are made to manage expenses. But Square Enix, the publisher of War of the Visions, isn’t exactly a small player in the industry, which is why this decision hits a bit differently. Could it be an early sign of the game shutting down, much like what happened to Nier Reincarnation? Well, only time will tell.
Whether it shuts down or not, you can still experience Final Fantasy BE: WOTV English voice-over as of now. So, go ahead and grab it from the Google Play Store, if you haven’t already!
