After close to a decade since its launch, is receiving a free next-gen-only update to fix a major story omission. Due to the release of the Show, it was announced that would be receiving an update to help scale up its performance to go along with new cosmetics and weapons. Though an update now seems odd, the massive success of the franchise's first live-action show made it a smart decision. Every game has seen significant increases in sales and player base since the show's release.
brought players to the northeast for the first time, focusing on eastern Massachusetts, while the DLC explored a small part of Maine. After seeing their son kidnapped in the vault, the player explores the wasteland in an attempt to find the child. All the while getting caught up in 's different endings of the Minutemen, Brotherhood of Steel, Railroad, and The Institute factions. However, one prominent faction was surprisingly absent from the story of this mainline game.
The Enclave, a group of pre-war bigwigs that have been the biggest bad of the franchise, will be looking to enter the Commonwealth. A new quest dubbed «Echoes of the Past» will task players with preventing the Enclave from establishing a base and support in the northeast. It is unknown how long this quest will be and if it will have any long-form impact on the game. Regardless, it is a nice inclusion to a game that felt somewhat disconnected from the rest of the franchise.

Though the Enclave was absent from the main plot of, they were hinted to have been active at one point. The most obvious sign is the Deathclaws that prowl the Commonwealth. A terrifying monstrosity created by the US military before the war, superior versions were eventually recreated by the Enclave and released into the wasteland to help bolster their goals. The only other sign is remnants of Enclave bases that can be looted for gear.
