Stay calm everyone, it's happening. Despite Elden Ring's anniversary passing without any mention of what's next, 2022's Game of the Year will indeed be getting DLC. FromSoftware confirmed a Shadow of the Erdtree expansion is in development, and many of you have been studying the sole image revealed very closely. An image many Elden Ring fans believe includes Miquella on horseback.
The image is a striking one which is to be expected from a game as stunning as Elden Ring. The Erdtree way off in the distance with that aforementioned character seemingly readying to ride towards it on horseback. There's been no mention of who exactly that mystery character is, but a quick look at Reddit suggests many of you think it's Miquella.

“Could be long after. Miquella awakes from his cocoon to find the Erdtree completely consumed by Godwyn's Deathroot since his deformed body is still growing and taking over the roots down there,” is one of many Miquella-based theories to have been offered up. Others think Miquella may well have been Torrent's old master, even suggesting the DLC takes place before the events of the main game if that really is Miquella on horseback.
Miquella doesn't actually get much screen time in Elden Ring despite how often he's mentioned. That's because he spends pretty much the entire game inside a cocoon. A prison in which he encased himself in the hope it would break a curse ensuring he and his twin Malenia, someone you'll likely be far more familiar with, remain young forever. A number of players have been hypothesizing for a while that any DLC would revolve around Miquella's story as there's clearly a lot of it to tell.
