For a game that has a relatively straightforward narrative (kill everyone, become king, fin) Elden Ring has such extensive lore that no Tarnished could ever dream to comprehend in a single playthrough. Most of us have to resort to deep-dive YouTube videos or Reddit threads to even catch half of the interesting backstory that permeates everything in the Lands Between.
Thankfully, there's a handy Reddit thread that is providing us with only the rarest and most interesting bits of lore in Elden Ring. Starting with user throwawaitnine's haunting discovery of what gets the Omen Killers through their day.

"Omen Killers are Perfumers who use a physick to become emotionless. The Omen curse is a fundamental threat to the Erdtree," they wrote. "The Perfumers know the Omen are innocent and they likely tried to cure them of the curse but when they couldn't Rollo just decided to kill them all."
For those unaware, the Omen are the giant, horned guys that you fight to get into the Altus Plateau and deep in the Subterranean Shunning Grounds beneath Leyndell. Cursed with brutal features and horn-like growths all over their bodies, they're holdovers from the Crucible that somehow are born into the era of the Erdtree and are thus considered heretical to the Golden Order. Those born of noble blood live out their lives in sewers, while the rest are hunted to extinction by the Omen killers.
Another neat bit of Elden Ring lore is how you can find a trail of blood in the Consecrated Snowfield that shows how Mohg escaped the Subterranean Shunning Grounds. You can even take that very same portal to find Mohg at his palace.
