Final Fantasy 14 Fans Call For Puma Merch Boycott In Support Of Palestine
Final Fantasy 14 fans are criticising Square Enix over its latest crossover with Puma, calling on others to boycott the new line of merch. This is due to Puma's sponsoring of football teams based in Israeli settlements which are illegal under intentional law, normalising the occupation of Palestinian territories.
Due to this, the BDS (Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions) movement calls on its supporters to boycott Puma. Some Final Fantasy 14 fans say this extends to the latest Puma merch, pledging to boycott the collection and spreading information on the company's involvement with the illegal settlements in Palestine.

The Final Fantasy 14 and Puma collaboration in question was unveiled just days ago, with the collection available for a limited time this month.
In announcement posts, some fans are using the opportunity to share why the BDS movement lists Puma as a company to avoid. Admittedly, most fans express their excitement for the Final Fantasy clothing despite this, but the posts spreading news of the boycott are still gaining some traction.
As per the BDS website, Puma is the main sponsor of the Israel Football Association, which is made up of some teams based in illegal settlements. The illegality of some of these areas was reaffirmed by the UN in 2016, calling on Israel to "cease all settlement activities in the occupied Palestinian territory, including East Jerusalem." Despite this, Puma continues to fund the IFA, which includes six teams based in these illegal settlements.
