It’s been almost five years since we got a new major release in the Soulcalibur franchise with Soulcalibur 6, and though it remains to be seen how long it’ll be before we get the next mainline instalment in the franchise (especially with fighting games being as big as they are right now), it seems like Bandai Namco has some plans related to the series in the works nonetheless.
That’s as per XboxEra co-founder Nick Baker, who recently said on the XboxEra podcast that a remaster of Soulcalibur is in the works at Bandai Namco. The full extent of this release remains to be seen- Baker suggests that it could either be a remastered collection of multiple Soulcalibur titles, but if not, he says a remaster of the original game is definitely in development. Baker also suggests that the release will be available via Game Pass as well.
It goes without saying that, given the massive critical success that earlier games in the series in particular continue to enjoy to this day, a remaster of any sort would be met with its fair share of excitement- though as is always the case with unverified leaks of this nature, it’s best to take this with a grain of salt for now.
