Star Wars: Ahsoka will officially launch on Disney+ this August, and ahead of its arrival on the streaming platform, the first trailer for the series has gone live. More details on the series were revealed at Star Wars Celebration this week, which sees Rosario Dawson return as the fan-favorite character.
Addressing the audience at the fan event, Dawson also hinted that a second season starring the former Jedi Kknight is on the cards, depending on the success of the first season.
For fans of Star Wars Rebels, the first trailer for Ahsoka has a lot of familiar faces. Hera Syndulla will be making her live-action debut in the show, with Mary Elizabeth Winstead playing the fan-favorite character, and Natasha Liu Bordizzo will portray Mandalorian Sabine Wren.
There's also a glimpse of Grand Admiral Thrawn in the trailer, a major antagonist who had previously been exiled to the far reaches of space in the final episode of Rebels. Thrawn's return comes at a dangerous time for the New Republic, as Ahsoka refers to him as the «heir to the Empire» in the trailer.
Beyond the Ahsoka solo series, a number of other big announcements were made at Star Wars Celebration. Daisy Ridley will return to the series in a new film that is set 15 years after the Rise of Skywalker and follows her efforts to rebuild the Jedi Order.
Additionally, Andor season 2 is aiming for an August 2024 debut, and Star Wars: The Acolyte, a Disney+ series during the final days of the High Republic era, has been described as «Frozen meets Kill Bill».
