At Star Wars Celebration, Lucasfilm announced three more Star Wars films, but the film studio did not provide any details on when they will be released, or in what order. Those details remain a mystery, but a new story from The Hollywood Reporter sheds new light on the matter.
According to the report, Lucasfilm is «ideally» hoping to release the Rey-focused Star Wars movie first, followed by the film from Dave Filoni and then the one from James Mangold. The Rey movie brings back Daisy Ridley and is said to be the «farthest along.» According to the report, Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight is writing this movie, taking over for Damon Lindelof and Justin Britt-Gibson. Oscar-winner Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy is lined up to direct this movie.
Lucasfilm has reportedly penciled in an unspecified Star Wars movie release for December 2025, and the Rey project would seemingly be the best candidate, the report said.
As for Filoni's movie, THR said this Star Wars movie's release timing will depend on his work on the Mandalorian and Ahsoka TV franchises. Mangold's film, meanwhile, won't be made until after he makes his Bob Dylan biopic starring Timothee Chamalet.
THR noted that Lucasfilm has made no official announcements on the timing of its new Star Wars films, so all of this information should be taken with a grain of salt for now.
