A new teaser is available for NetherRealm Studios’ Mortal Kombat 12, releasing later this year. The last teaser featured an exploding grain of sand in an hourglass, but the latest is more straightforward. It says, “It is almost time,” and features a clock ticking towards “12.”
However, at the last second, it skips to “1.” The same explosion effect as the previous teaser, equivalent to a Big Bang, seems to tease a reboot. Perhaps the universe is remade, and everything returns to zero, especially given the aftermath of Mortal Kombat 11. Time will tell, especially with reports of it being showcased this month and the PlayStation Showcase rumored for the week of May 25th .
While Mortal Kombat 12’s platforms, characters and release date haven’t been confirmed, one guest character is rumored. Jez Corden of Windows Central seemingly teased the inclusion of Peacemaker, who rose to fame following The Suicide Squad film and his TV show on HBO Max. Whether WWE Legend John Cena will reprise the character remains to be seen. Stay tuned in the meantime.
