WordPress is incorporating ChatGPT-like technology through an AI-powered tool that can write entire blog posts for you.
The so-called “Jetpack Assistant AI” is arriving as an experimental feature for users to try out starting today. WordPress’s developer Automattic says the technology is based on the large language models from ChatGPT’s developer OpenAI.
Hence, users can expect outputs similar to the popular chatbot program, except now they can access the AI technology directly from within WordPress Editor. The Jetpack Assistant promises to accelerate the whole blog-writing process from hours to potentially seconds.
“Simply provide a prompt, and watch as Jetpack AI Assistant crafts compelling blog posts, detailed pages, structured lists, and comprehensive tables — all customized to match your unique requirements,” WordPress said in a blog post(Opens in a new window).
For example, one demo shows the tool pumping out a blog post on Tokyo’s must-visit travel destinations in about eight seconds, complete with bullet points and a Japanese Yen to USD exchange rate, although curiously Jetpack offers an old exchange rate from 2021. This is likely because OpenAI’s newest AI model GPT-4 has only been trained on data from up to Sept. 2021.
Whether the Jetpack Assistant can write quality text is another matter. OpenAI’s ChatGPT can still “hallucinate” false information and sometimes write essays that can be wordy or bland. So you probably want to check anything that Jetpack Assistant writes before posting it to the public.
