NetherRealm Studios has been teasing the next Mortal Kombat game’s announcement over the last couple of weeks, and the actual announcement itself is now right around the corner.
Taking to Twitter, the developer confirmed that the next entry in the franchise will be unveiled tomorrow, May 18, at 6 PM PT. The confirmation comes with another short tease; following on from last week’s clip, which showed a clock jumping from 11 to 1, the new tease shows cracks suddenly appearing in the clock’s face.
Leaks have claimed that the upcoming instalment is set to be a reboot called Mortal Kombat 1, which, of course, very much aligns with what the aforementioned teases have hinted at.
Meanwhile, prominent insider The Snitch has also taken to Twitter and suggested that the game’s announcement will likely be a CG trailer. It remains to be seen whether WB Games will have more to show beyond that in the near future, especially with the PlayStation Showcase coming up on May 24.
Mortal Kombat 1 is allegedly targeting a September launch for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
