The Star Wars TV series centered around the character Lando Calrissian was announced in 2020 but never materialized. It's not dead, though, and in fact, Lucasfilm boss Kathleen Kennedy pretty much confirmed that Donald Glover will play the character. Glover first played Lando in 2018's Solo.
«I can just tell you it's still happening, and he's very excited about it,» she told IGN, referring to Glover.
This comes just days after Glover himself confirmed that discussions are underway for him to play Lando again. «We're talking about it. That's as much as I can say without [Lucasfilm president] Kathleen Kennedy hunting me down,» Glover said.
Glover said COVID lockdowns helped him realize how valuable time is, so he isn't going to waste time on a project he doesn't care about or do something just to make money.
«I would love to play Lando again. It just needs to be the right way to do it,» Glover said. «Time is valuable. You only get so much. I'm not interested in doing anything that's just going to be a waste of my time or just a paycheck. I'd rather spend time with people that I enjoy. It just has to be the right thing, which I think it could be. Lando is definitely somebody that I'd like to hang out with.»
On the more immediate horizon, the Star Wars TV show Ahsoka debuts this August on Disney Plus. Andor returns for its second season in 2024, and another show, The Acolyte, is coming at some point later.
In terms of Star Wars movies, Lucasfilm just announced three more, including one starring Daisy Ridley coming back to play Rey again.
