Actor Donald Glover has said he would love to play Lando again in another Star Wars project. Speaking to GQ, Glover confirmed that discussions are underway, but he's not at liberty to reveal anything more, or else.
«We're talking about it. That's as much as I can say without [Lucasfilm president] Kathleen Kennedy hunting me down,» Glover said in the video interview below.
Glover said COVID lockdowns helped him realize how valuable time is, so he isn't going to waste time on a project he doesn't care about or do something just to make money.
«I would love to play Lando again. It just needs to be the right way to do it,» Glover said. «Time is valuable. You only get so much. I'm not interested in doing anything that's just going to be a waste of my time or just a paycheck. I'd rather spend time with people that I enjoy. It just has to be the right thing, which I think it could be. Lando is definitely somebody that I'd like to hang out with.»
Glover played Lando in Solo: A Star Wars Story, which didn't get great reviews and didn't make a lot of money by Star Wars standards. Kennedy fired the original directors, Phil Lord and Chris Miller, in the middle of production, bringing on Ron Howard to finish the job. For his part, Howard has said fans should not hold out hope for a Solo sequel.
If Glover does return as Lando, it wouldn't necessarily need to be through Solo 2. Lucasfilm announced a Lando TV series in 2020, and this might be the project that Glover is alluding to.
