New World has loosened restrictions on characters per server,making it possible to create a couple of alts or transfer over. There’s also a brand new Forged in Aeternum all about balance, including reflections on Season 1, Fellowship & Fire, and balance changes on the way.
From the beginning, New World has had a cap on the number of characters you could have on a server, and this has now been lifted. However, you are still only allowed a max of three characters per region , so there are still restrictions. Yet, loosening things a bit like this will make having alts easier, and allow for those with characters currently on Fresh Start worlds to transfer those characters over to a server that they’re already familiar with.
In a new Forged in Aeternum, the topic is all about balance, and Creative Director David Verfaillie answers some questions on what they're seeing (hint: ranged weapons everywhere in PvP) and planning.
Fellowship & Fire has been live for weeks, and some patterns have emerged. Fire Staff and Ice Gauntlet have been heavily used in all of the PVP modes, and discussion among the community this season has held that up. Both are showing great performances and high win rates, which, in turn, makes them heavily used in the current meta.
Melee is very much underperforming in OPR, and the team is looking at various potential reasons why, including the layout and crossing systems as well as heavy ranged weapon use. Bows in PvP are seeing high use, especially in Outpost Rush, but their win rates are under 50%,with only a bit of those using them showing very strong performance using Bow.
