A sealed original iPhone was recently bought at auction for a whopping $40,000 price tag. While not the most expensive, the original iPhone comes with a limited edition 'Lucky You" Apple sticker. The highest-ever price that an original iPhone was bought for at auction is above $63,000. Now, it has been revealed that the auction was won by a YouTuber who has unboxed the original iPhone. Scroll down to read more details on the subject.
The auction was won by Marques Brownlee or MKBHD on YouTube, who got the original iPHone for a whopping $40,000. He goes on to share that original iPhones from 2007 are very rare and that it is very hard to confirm their authenticity.
Many YouTubers have been scammed in the past who received repacked or faulty iPhone models. Scammers take advantage of the rare product as its price has gone up by a lot and is now considered a vintage product. Mostly, scammers who sell sealed original iPhone models use an online medium like Amazon or eBay. However, this was not the case with MKBHD. The auction confirmed the authenticity of the device through X-Rays and other means, thereby making sure that the original iPhone was indeed genuine.
MKBHD also explained how the auction worked and how he managed to secure the device. You can check out the full video below for more details. The thing that makes it a rare original iPhone is the "Lucky You" sticker over the box.
