If you've been keeping tabs on some of the more vocal reactions to certain Last of Us episodes, you'd think there are a lot of homophobic people out there watching the hit HBO series. Episode 7, which dealt with the Left Behind DLC from the game, was review-bombed for showing Ellie and Riley's relationship, with the Middle East version of the show even cutting their on-screen kiss. Bill and Frank's love story in episode 3 received a similar reaction.
However, you'd be wrong. According to Ellie actor Bella Ramsey, there's a veritable gay army supporting her online. In an interview with Comicbook.com's The Last of Pods podcast (via Gayming Magazine), Ramsey revealed she was aware of the review bombs, but she says they've been drowned out by her supporters.

"I had an oath with Craig Mazin I wasn't gonna look at comments and I feel like I've slightly dramatically broken that oath the last couple of weeks," Ramsey admitted. "I’m very aware that there’s a gay army on Twitter who are supporting me and Ellie. They’re so much louder than any people who still hate it, or hate the show, the homophobic trolls.
"That feels nice, to just have that army," she added. "That's been a reaction that I've really enjoyed."
Ramsey initially offered a fiery rebuke in the wake of episode 3's review bomb, telling homophobes they're "gonna have to get used to" gay and trans characters in the show. But given the near-universal support The Last of Us has received, it seems like she can let her army do the talking for her.
