The announcement that Bella Ramsey, previously best known for their stint in Game of Thrones, would be playing Ellie in The Last of Us was met with a mixed reception. Admittedly, this was because some people are daft and think that good casting means hiring actors who perfectly resemble the original character. But still, Ramsey had a lot to prove to some fans - and now, it seems like they've done it.
Following her performance in the latest episode, When We Are in Need, viewers aren't just praising Ramsey's take on Ellie Williams - but saying she should be nominated for an Emmy. Many are saying that episode eight should be her Emmy submission too, as Ramsey had the chance to show off more range than ever before.

Separated from Pedro Pascal's Joel, Ellie is left to fend for herself, and Ramsey is left to largely carry the episode. And carry it they did, throwing themselves into what is arguably the most intense, terrifying, and violent episode to date.
Despite initial reservations, it definitely seems that Ramsey is winning over more fans with each episode. This makes sense, given that Ellie was much more closed off and sarcastic in earlier episodes, showing a more sensitive side as the story progresses. This turning point came around the time of episode five, Endure and Survive, as started to see hints of Ellie's intense survivor's guilt. This was only expanded in Left Behind, before being released in last night's episode.
