A concept trailer for Insomniac’s canceled Spider-Manmultiplayer game has just leaked online, giving fans a glimpse into what the ambitious project could have been like. Insomniac’s series of open-world Spider-Man games have earned critical acclaim from fans of Marvel’s legendary web slinger, starting with the successful Marvel’s Spider-Man back in 2018. A spin-off was released in 2020 in Spider-Man: Miles Morales, which saw the titular teenage hero come into his own as a crime-fighter. In addition to games featuring Venom, Wolverine, and the X-Men, this leak included a multiplayer Spider-Man game that was supposedly in the works at Insomniac over the past couple of years. Tentatively titled Spider-Man: The Great Web, this open-world title would feature multiple Spider-heroes from across the Marvel multiverse fighting crime and battling supervillains in New York City. Sadly, this game was reportedly canceled by Insomniac a long time before the leak brought it to light.
Now fans can see for themselves what Spider-Man: The Great Web could have been like, as a concept trailer was recently leaked online and shared by people like Reddit user okangel12345 on r/insomniacleaks. Narrated by Peter Parker voice actor Yuri Lowenthal, this brief trailer for the canceled Spider-Man game shows various Spider-heroes emerging from portals and battling villains like Doc Ock and Venom across different sections of the multiverse. Most of the characters shown appear to be made with pre-existing assets from the previous Spider-Man games, save for a playable Spider-Gwen that seems to have been made
