Spider-Man: The Great Web has been a big talk lately, especially after its cancellation. However, fans, everyone keeps hyping up what this game could have been in hopes maybe Sony will pick it back up, but it seems iffy. This game would have been the first Spider-Man to be multiplayer recently, allowing you and a friend to both play as a Spidey, whether that be Peter Parker himself or another from the Spider-Verse.
Recently, on Reddit, a photo was leaked that showed some concept art for Spider-Man: The Great Web. This image shows multiple different Spidey heroes, including Miles Morales, Spider-Gwen, and Peter Parker. This just shows how amazing multiplayer would have been in a title such as this.
It is also suggested, according to leaks, that players would have been able to make their own custom character as a Spider-Man as well. This is a cool new feature that hasn’t been in a Spider-Man game yet, and very well feeds into the Spider-Verse. This game was lining up to be one to break Spider-Man history, but unfortunately, it doesn’t seem it will see the break of day, and it is sad to know that.
Many might keep hoping that this project will be picked up again by Sony and that we might still get a Spider-Man game that seems to have been the developers listening to the fans, but it is a bit more unlikely that they will bring this back with the state of the gaming industry currently. There is always hope, though.
