World of Warcraft continues to prepare the community for the arrival of Classic Hardcore on August 24th. The latest devblog is encouraging those who might want to try the feature by talking about death. And why it’s not the end end, even in Hardcore.
To be fair, if your Hardcore character dies, then it is the end for that character, but there are options to continue to enjoy the server and community. The “Facing Mortality” blog still does include that detail, but the tone of the whole thing is definitely nudging those on the fence to go forth and take the risk.
If your character does die along the way, you still have some choices about how to spend your time. You can still hang out in the world as a ghost if you want to. Whether this is because you want to start a new roleplaying phase, or if you simply have some unfinished business, you can choose to just be a ghost for a while. If you are a ghost, you can't speak to the living, complete any quests or interact with much of anything in the game. You can continue to haunt and wander around the world. As for that unfinished business, you can communicate with those on your friends list and transfer guild leadership if you were, in your stint as a living hero, a guild leader.
Another option you can try is use the free character move option to move your character to a regular Classic server. You can continue to play the same character after you rez your hero, but that character’s time in Hardcore is over.
And if you are either a glutton for punishment or someone who thrives on challenges, you can keep trying by creating another Classic Hardcore character. Maybe you'll make it to 60 this time.
