In an amusing but inevitable twist considering Sony still holds the Call of Duty marketing rights, the upcoming Modern Warfare 3 will be playable first on PS5 and PS4 – despite Microsoft’s ongoing attempts to acquire publisher Activision Blizzard. By the time the title launches later this year, many are expecting the ink to be dry on the multi-billion-dollar buyout, but that won’t stop PlayStation owners from being able to play the latest title’s public beta five days earlier than anyone else.
Obviously, we’re talking about a minuscule perk in the grand scheme of things here – we’re a long way away from the days where DLC used to launch a month early on Xbox 360 – but it’s an amusing anecdote considering the continuing courtroom chaos this acquisition has caused. The news comes courtesy of a removed YouTube video from PlayStation’s Arabic account, but it’s hard to imagine it’s not accurate.
Sony, who’s signed a ten year contract to keep Call of Duty on its consoles should the aforementioned acquisition go ahead, will presumably be satisfied it still has marketing dibs on this year’s game.

I agree it's an interesting wrinkle but bought exclusivity can do one. Rubbish for the customer.
