God of War Ragnarok director Eric Williams shortly after the game’s launch that it was unlikely to get DLC, though it seems plans have changed. According to prominent leaker The Snitch, developer SIE Santa Monica Studio is working on DLC for God of War Ragnarok.
The leaker mentioned the same on his Twitter page, while also stating on a Twitch stream (via ResetEra) that he’s unsure if what Sony Santa Monica is currently working on is DLC for God of War Ragnarok itself, or a standalone expansion, similar to Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales.
As per the leaker – who states that he received these details from a source that previously also accurately leaked Rise of the Ronin screenshots prior to its announcement – development of the project is about 60% complete. It is now, however, due out this year.
Recently, Sony Santa Monica also published job ads in which it said it was looking for applicants with “knowledge of God of War (2018) and God of War Ragnarok“. Though speculation afterward leaned toward a full-fledged sequel, it’s possible that the listings may instead have been related to DLC or an expansion.
God of War Ragnarok is available on PS5 and PS4, and has sold over 11 million units as of February 1. Read our review of the game through here.
