We all know PS5’s sales have increased significantly around the globe this year. That’s because Sony resolved its stock issues at the start of the year, and more recently has been running price promotions, as it attempts to clear stock ahead of the alleged introduction of a revised hardware model.
But this graph coming out of Germany really underlines just how far the format has come. The graphic, which compares the first six months of 2022 to the first six months of 2023, shows that PS5 sales have trebled during the period. Perhaps even more startling is that the Xbox Series X|S looks to have regressed, while the Nintendo Switch has remained generally steady in its twilight years.
PS5’s jaw-dropping success has driven the German hardware market up by a whopping 90 per cent year-over-year, which is just staggering at this stage of the generation. We imagine the second half of 2023 will be similarly successful for Sony, between the launch of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 and the aforementioned hardware redesign.

People want to buy good products with good support.
As I’ve said before, I can foresee MS become a platform provider like Valve with steam.
They simply cannot beat Sony and PlayStation brand strength.
