Larian Studios CEO Swen Vincke has announced that Baldur’s Gate 3 is coming to Xbox Series X/S in 2023. Available for PC and coming to PS5 on September 6th, the critically acclaimed RPG was delayed on Microsoft’s consoles due to issues with split-screen co-op on Xbox Series S.
In a new tweet, Vincke revealed that after meeting Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer recently, “We’ve found a solution that allows us to bring Baldur’s Gate 3 to Xbox players this year still, something we’ve been working towards for quite some time.” He confirmed that all improvements to the game would be available (as with the PS5 version) and that the Series X would support split-screen co-op.
However, it won’t be available on Xbox Series S. Fortunately, cross-save between the PC and Xbox Series X/S will be supported. Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like there will be crossplay support.
Larian Studios is working on Patch 1 for Baldur’s Gate 3, which contains over 1000 fixes. Patch 2 is also in the works and will add community-requested features (hopefully including the ability to change one’s appearance in the middle of a playthrough). Stay tuned for more updates in the meantime, and check out our review of the PC version here.
