PC and PlayStation gamers have had some time with the critically-acclaimed Baldur’s Gate 3. Soon enough, Xbox gamers will join the party. In an exclusive interview through IGN with the Larian Studios director, the Baldur’s Gate 3 release on Xbox was confirmed to be between September and October 2023. Now the developers are in the final stages of optimization, and the release date for the Xbox version is imminent.
While PC players received Baldur’s Gate 3 in August, and just recently PS5 players gained access, Xbox players are awaiting their turn. The reasoning behind a late Xbox Series X|S launch has to do with Larian Studios attempting to figure out Xbox Series S split-screen co-op. Since the S model is less powerful than the X, split-screen multiplayer apparently hasn’t worked well. For now, Baldur’s Gate 3 will release on both versions, but you won’t be able to play split-screen co-op on the S.

And 2023 is narrowing, so it’s already pretty precise in my book. Between September and November… So, as fast as we can honestly.”
September has already begun, so the Xbox version’s release is really not too far away. Vincke also stated that the Xbox Series X version was already good to go, but the team is simply cleaning things up. Apparently, Larian Studios is very close to finalizing everything. This means that an official release date announcement should be coming anytime soon.
