Baldur’s Gate 3 has been available for a few weeks now, following its exit from Early Access. An official release has prompted new players to dive deep into the sprawling campaign and the expanded content it now offers. This influx of players has generated new issues for patches to fix.
Larian Studios has announced that Patch 1.0, available today, fixes many of the issues Baldur’s Gate 3 has experienced since launch. In fact, the update adds more than 1,000 fixes in all. They address everything from balance, to story flow, to logic tweaks. They even adjust cinematics and visuals.
If you’ve played Baldur’s Gate 3 yourself, you know the game has an intricate plot. Players can impact its development in numerous ways, while playing as characters representing the wide variety of classes and subclasses. That kind of freedom provides a lot of room for things to go wrong and affect the adventure in ways small and large.
“We’ve eliminated issues like NPCs who sometimes spot you when they really shouldn’t be able to, floating items like mugs and newspapers that should abide the laws of gravity, and the conclusion to Shadowheart’s romance scene not triggering for some players,” notes an explanation. This is all very important, since my Bard has a thing for Shadowheart. It would be a real shame if they couldn’t explore their passion fully.
The official patch notes are quite detailed. Understandably, they’re also prefaced by a warning about spoilers. Fixes are then broken down by categories such as ‘Showstoppers’ and ‘Usability,’ as well as ‘Visuals’ and ‘Flow and Scripting,’ others. There’s also the promise that Patch 2 is “right around the corner.”
