Pre-fight dialogue datamined from Mortal Kombat 1 has confirmed that Takeda Takahashi is going to be a very different character this time around, and might not even be Kenshi's son.
Out of all the Kombat Kids, there's no doubt that the two most popular are Cassie Cage and Takeda Takahashi. Cassie had her time in the sun following her introduction in Mortal Kombat X, but Takeda strangely missed out on Mortal Kombat 11, despite being so popular. Thankfully, he's set to make his return in Mortal Kombat 1's first Kombat Pack, although pre-fight dialogue datamined from the game's files seems to imply he's going to be a very different character.

Over the last few days, a ton of content hidden within Mortal Kombat 1's files has been being datamined and shared around the internet, hinting at NetherRealm's plans for the game in the future. A lot of these leaks are based on scripts for pre-fight dialogue that happens when two fighters clash in versus mode, which usually tells us a lot more about their character. As great as it is to see Homelander and Omni-Man insult the cast of Mortal Kombat, the most interesting intro dialogues actually belong to Takeda.
As highlighted by Redditor pappico_, a number of Takeda's intro dialogues make it clear that he's not the same character that he once was, even if he looks similarly to how he did in Mortal Kombat X. For starters, it looks like Takeda is no longer Kenshi's son in this timeline, as he says to Li Mei in one of their pre-fight intros that the two are "distant cousins". It's not clear if this is just him trying to hide his true relationship with Kenshi, but it's strange for him to be hiding it in the first place.
