Ghostface from Scream may be coming to Mortal Kombat 1 as a downloadable fighter.
Series co-creator and Mortal Kombat 1 creative director Ed Boon tweeted artwork of a series of horror movie slasher villains, with ticks and question marks drawn over them.
The villains with ticks on them – Freddy Krueger, Leatherface and Jason Voorhees – have all appeared in previous Mortal Kombat games as DLC characters.
The villains with question marks on them – Ghostface, Pinhead, Michael Myers, Chucky and Billy the Puppet from Saw – have yet to appear in the fighting game series.
While Boon could theoretically be teasing any of these characters, earlier this month modder @thethiny tweeted that they had datamined Mortal Kombat 1 and found “evidence for” eight as-yet unannounced characters.
Most of these are Mortal Kombat characters like Noob Saibot, Cyrax, Jade and Cassie Cage, but also on the list was Ghostface. As such, this may be who Boon is referring to.

VGC’s Mortal Kombat 1 review calls it “the best Mortal Kombat game to date”, awarding it a score of 5/5.
