The long-awaited sequel is finally starting to feel in reach over a decade after the original, and a new demo of the game has illuminated some of the many ways it plans to expand on its predecessors systems. Developed and published by Capcom, the title once again focuses on the Arisen and their Pawns in a fantasy world, this time following the player as they try to take their rightful spot as ruler. With the combat and story showcased in a recent hands-on event demonstrating great promise, it seems like the game will offer a lot of fun for both new and returning players.
The hour-long session with began with choosing between three classes: Fighter, Archer, and Thief, each of which possess their own specialties. Fighters are adept at close-up melee combat, Archers at long-distance damage, and Thieves fight their way through via daggers and quick movements. However, no matter what players choose in the beginning, they can change their vocation at any time by speaking to a tavern keeper, and there are several other options like Mage and the telekinetic Mystic Spearhand that will become available over time.

The demo first showed off the Arisen's origin, which just as in the original, happens after having their heart plucked out by a dragon. Cursed with amnesia about their origins and identity, the Arisen is encouraged to travel to the capital of Vernsworth to meet with Captain Brant and let him know a new Arisen has been created. The demo ended soon after it became clear that the great power of an Arisen is a major threat for the realm's existing ruler Queen Regent Disa, setting up the game's main conflict.
