Bungie has always had to carefully approach the quantity and quality of loot in Destiny 2. While the community is eager to take any new goodies, issues crop up when there’s such a glut of guns in the game that it’s impossible to find anything specific. To that end, Bungie is preparing to reduce the number of available world drop weapons alongside the reintroduction of weapon foundry focusing.
Bungie is essentially using this as an opportunity to massively offload the game’s world loot pool. A grand total of 24 weapons will move into the upcoming foundry focusing system. Additionally, eight extra guns are being thrown into Xûr’s loot pool for good measure (and added variety). Basically, the vast majority of the game’s core weaponry should be way easier to get as of Season 23, as players will be able to focus engrams into particular drops.
Destiny‘s weapon foundries have always been a fun aspect of the game’s world-building. From that point of view alone, reintroducing foundry engram focusing via Banshee-44 is great news. The fact that this can de-burden the game’s overloaded world loot pool is a cherry on top. According to Bungie’s latest TWID, the Season 23 Gunsmith/foundry loot pool will include weapons released from Season 16 up to Season 19, which means all the newer world loot will be way easier to get.
The Season 23 version of foundry focusing will only include Häkke, Omolon, Veist, and Suros weapons, keep in mind. In Season 24, Bungie will upgrade the system with the Field-Forged “foundry” gear, which includes kitbash weapons veteran players
