One of the biggest side quests in is finding the long-lost Adamantine Forge in the Underdark. The Adamantine Forge can be found in the Grymforge and is the only source of Adamantine Gear items, among the best items you can obtain in Act One. However, while exploring the area, your party will encounter numerous hazards, including fields of bubbling lava, new enemies, and boss fights.
Your party has two possible routes into the Shadow-Cursed Lands and Act Two: the Mountain Pass and the Underdark, which havesome well-hidden Act One secrets. Your Underdark adventures will eventually lead you to the Grymforge, where you can explore further to find the Adamantine Forge. This involves four main objectives: finding the Forge, locating gear molds, obtaining Mithral Ore, and finally using the Forge itself.
After arriving at the Grymforge by boat, you will encounter a group of Underdark dwarves, working in an uneasy partnership with Absolute cultists who've enslaved a group of gnomes. This can include Barcus Wroot if you free him from the windmill in the Blighted Village. The fate of the gnomes has consequences for Acts Two and Three, so you may want to deal with the Duergar and cultists first, potentially by recruiting Elder Brithvar and killing True Soul Nere.
Whether to save or kill Nere depends on your character; either way, it's recommended that you clear the Grymforge out for some extra XP before tackling the Adamantine Forge.
The Adamantine Forge is a challenging gauntlet that mixes dangerous exploration with a few challenging combat encounters. Having a solid party composition with the right companions is essential, and you will need party members capable of ranged and melee combat backed up by spellcasting support. Proficiency in Perception is also highly recommended.
