Nintendo has announced that Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Splintered Fate is coming to the Switch in July as a timed console exclusive. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles fans on other platforms aren't out of luck, as this wording suggests the mobile game is coming to additional consoles later on.
It's a pretty good time to be a TMNT fan, as TMNT Arcade: Wrath of the Mutants is set to release on April 23 for all major platforms. In case some are unfamiliar, Wrath is a port of Raw Thrills' 2017 arcade game of the same name, but its console release comes with upgrades like new stages and boss fights. Fans have other titles to look forward to as well, like Outright Games' TMNT: Mutants Unleashed, but Switch owners are especially in luck regarding the franchise's newest announcement.
Developer Super Evil Megacorp will make their console debut when TMNT: Splintered Fate releases on the Switch in July. The roguelike mobile game has been upgraded for Nintendo's console with improved visuals and audio and features the four crime-fighting turtles that TMNT fans have come to love. Splintered Fate includes fast-paced combat, a build system, co-op, and a roguelike mechanic that aims to create plenty of replayability. The game originally released in May 2023 for iOS and Mac and has been well-received with a 4.7 out of 5 review average from more than 24,000 reviews.
Splintered Fate features an entirely new story that's co-written by TMNT comic book author Tom Waltz and Super Evil Megacorp creative director Michael Johnson. Players will find themselves fighting across four different New York City-based locations that include lots of Easter eggs, collectibles, and iconic enemies like Shredder, Bebop, and Rocksteady. It's still unclear how long Splintered Fate will be a Switch console exclusive, but it seems quite likely that the game will arrive on other platforms eventually.
