News regarding the Nintendo Switch 2 has been agonizingly thin on the ground as of late, but Nintendo finally gave us an official update earlier today by announcing that the console will be revealed within the current fiscal year. That's led to renewed excitement about the system, and Nintendo insider TvPH has used that excitement to get word out about the features that the console will have.
While TvPH doesn't have the same level of reliability as a Jeff Grubb, Pyoro, or Midori, they did accurately leak the Nintendo Switch 2's internal delay to 2025, when most people assumed the console would be released this year. That gives them a little more credibility than other insiders, and TvPH recently claimed in a new video inspired by Nintendo's recent announcement that the system will be backwards compatible both physically and digitally.
In the video, they go into detail about certain features and plans surrounding the Nintendo Switch 2, such as a launch date of March 2025 and the promise of more remasters from Nintendo. However, questions have been raised in the past about the Switch 2's backwards compatibility prospects, and players have been on edge about whether they'll be able to transfer their game libraries. TvPH's claim that the console will support physical and digital Switch titles will come as great relief to some, though we're still best waiting for official news on that front just in case.
In fact, if you take into account Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa's own comments following the announcement of the Switch 2's upcoming reveal, TvPH's claims don't seem all that unlikely. According to industry analyst David Gibson, it was mentioned by Furukawa in the following results call that it's more appropriate to call the system the "Switch next model."
