Assassin’s Creed Shadows is coming out on 15th November 2024, it’s been leaked by the descriptions on Ubisoft’s YouTube pages for the reveal trailer.
The full announcement of what was previously known as Codename Red will come tomorrow 15th May, but Ubisoft has the trailers already in place on their various global YouTube channels waiting for the 5PM BST go time. Unfortunately some of these pages were pushed live with more details than they should have had, letting slip ahead of time that the game will be coming out on 15th November – these pages have since been edited to remove the information.
Additionally, a dataminer by the online handle of Frax (who separately leaked the game’s name before Monday’s announcement, has now claimed to know AC Shadow’s DLC plans.
The Assassin’s Creed Shadows Season Pass will come in at $40 / £40 and feature two expansions, some in-game currency, and an exclusive questline called ‘Origami Killer’ – presumably there will be a lot of Heavy Rain and kidnapped children during this quest. The Ultimate Edition will also give owners five ‘skill points’, and there’s a pre-order bonus called ‘Thrown to the Dogs’.
We’ll see if all of that pans out tomorrow.
A long-awaited, much requested game set in Feudal Japan, Assassin’s Creed Shadows is certainly an evocative name for a game about a Japanese assassin, with the game pretty much guaranteed to cast you as a neophyte ninja as you delve into local politics and threats to the status quo by getting up close for some AC-style stabbing.
The game was first teased in September 2022 under the codename Red, though obviously very little was revealed at that time outside of the setting and the overarching form. This will build on the open world RPG foundations of the last few mainline entries, though it will be interesting to see if Assassin’s Creed Mirage has any influence on it, as a DLC-turned-game that returned to AC’s roots.
