Ubisoft has shared the full reveal of Assassin's Creed Shadows with a nearly four-minute cinematic trailer, announcing a PS5 version and the release date of 15th November 2024. You can catch the trailer above.
The pitch is as follows: «Live the intertwined stories of Naoe, an adept shinobi Assassin from Iga Province, and Yasuke, the powerful African samurai of historical legend. Against the backdrop of the turbulent late Sengoku period, this remarkable duo will discover their common destiny as they usher in a new era for Japan.»
You'll be able to play as either the shinobi assassin Naoe or samuari Yasuke. With a backdrop of feudal Japan, you will have the chance to explore «spectacular castle towns and bustling ports to peaceful shrines and pastoral landscapes», all of which will feature «unpredictable weather, changing seasons, and reactive environments». You can switch between playing as either character at any time, allowing you to approach quests and missions in various ways. You can tackle most of the main quest as either protagonist, but some missions will be exclusive to each one.
«Master complementary playstyles of two fully realized protagonists, approach quests with whichever character you prefer, as each possesses their own respective progression, stats, skills, and gear.»
As is customary for Ubisoft games, there's a standard version (£69.99 / $69.99), a Gold Edition including the season pass for two expansions and three days of early access (£94.99 / $109.99) and then an Ultimate Edition (£114.99 / $129.99) that bundles in character and hideout packs, skill points, and a Photo Mode filter on top of the DLC pass and early access.
In a follow-up video, you can learn more about the two protagonists Naoe and Yasuke. The former is a Japanese shinobi while the latter is based on a real-life samurai of the same name. Catch it below:
