US publishing giant Take-Two has dropped its publishing deal with Polish games firm Bloober Team.
As spotted by MauroNL on Twitter, the latter posted a notice to investors, announcing that its partnership had been terminated as of May 30th. The game the duo was teaming up on was codenamed Project C, a title that was being published by Take-Two's Private Division label.
Bloober said in the release that the publishing deal falling through was a scenario it had accounted for and was looking for alternate solutions.
"As at the date of publication of the current report, the Company continues work on Project C in accordance with the planned production and marketing schedule in the self-publishing model," Bloober Team wrote.
In a statement, a Take-Two rep added: "As we announced earlier this month and in conjunction with our quarterly results, our entire organization contributed to our cost reduction efforts, including Private Division. We refocused our pipeline within Private Division and are still planning to support an array of titles, including Moon Studio’s No Rest for the Wicked, which launched on early access for PC on April 18th; Wētā Workshop Game Studio’s Tales of the Shire: A The Lord of the Rings Game, which is planned to launch in the second half of 2024; and our title in partnership with Gamefreak.
"We have nothing further to note."
The company also axed a similar publishing deal with People Can Fly in September 2022.
Just one day before the publishing agreement was axed, Bloober Team called out Project C, along with its upcoming remake of horror classic Silent Hill 2, as being its main focus in its financial report for Q1 2024.
Take-Two has reportedly closed Roll7 and Kerbal Space Program 2 maker Intercept Games, though the company has denied that this has happened despite evidence to the contrary.
