Tears of the Kingdom might still have that particular award wrapped up, and an amiibo restock at Walmart today may have reminded a few people of that after a very big video game weekend. Pre-orders for Zelda and Ganondorf's figures are available again for the first time in a while.
The two new amiibos were revealed earlier this year and pre-orders opened shortly after the most recent Nintendo Direct. However, all of those pre-orders were snapped up pretty quickly, and restocks of the figures have experienced the same fate. That's why if you're reading this soon enough after the article went live, you should act fast if you want to be among the first to add the new amiibos to your collection.

Not only are the Zelda and Ganondorf figures the first ones modeled after the characters likenesses in Tears of the Kingdom, but they're two of just three amiibos spun from the game so far. Link is the only other character from the game to have been honored with an amiibo so far, getting his at launch which seems fair since he's the lead character. Pretty much all Zelda amiibos, whether linked to Tears of the Kingdom or not, will unlock a new glider fabric if used while playing the newest Zelda game.
Zelda's first Tears of the Kingdom amiibo has the princess holding a repaired Master Sword. While tapping the figure on your Switch won't fix the legendary weapon, it will give you a unique new fabric for your paraglider.
