Super Mario Bros. Wonder is the fastest-selling Super Mario game ever in Europe, Nintendo has claimed.
“Wowie zowie! In its first three days on sale, #SuperMarioBrosWonder has become the fastest-selling Super Mario game ever in Europe,” the company wrote on social media. “A huge thanks to everyone who helped make this a wonderful launch.”
Currently, there is no word on Wonder’s sales performance in other territories such as North America or Japan.
The Nintendo Switch game was released last week and according to UK physical sales data, it was the third-biggest physical launch for a Mario platform game in UK chart history, behind Odyssey and 3D All-Stars.
It’s likely then that digital sales pushed Wonder to be the biggest Mario platform game launch in the UK, in addition to Europe.

According to GamesIndustry.biz’s Christopher Dring, Mario Wonder’s first week UK sales are “significantly better” than those of New Super Mario Bros U Deluxe, which to date has gone on to sell more than 16 million copies worldwide.
Mario Wonder’s first-week physical UK sales were 62% lower than those of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, but Mario games tend to be more ‘evergreen’ and continue to sell in healthy numbers years after release.
“Super Mario Bros. Wonder is lovingly crafted, consistently surprising, and a delight to play alone or with friends,” according to VGC’s 5-star review.
“If this is what the future of Mario side-scrolling looks like, then we can’t wait to see what’s next. Especially if future games are assembled with this much heart.”
