Resident Evil Sales Have Surpassed 150 Million Units Globally, Selling Another 4 Million Units in Three Months

Global Resident Evil sales have surpassed 150 million units worldwide, publisher Capcom has announced.

Capcom published its financial results for the second quarter of its current fiscal year (FY23), and in the freshly published report, the publisher has included updated sales figures for the Resident Evil franchise. According to the report, more than 150 million units within the Resident Evil series have been sold as of September 30, 2023. Back in July of this year, Capcom reported to have sold 146 million units within the franchise. This means that Capcom managed to sell another 4 million units of the franchise in three months. Comparing the publisher's top title unit sales between the second and first quarter, a large portion of these additional sales can be attributed to Resident Evil 4 Remake (490.000 units), Resident Evil 2 Remake (530.000 units), and Resident Evil 3 Remake (430.000 units).

"During the six months ended September 30, 2023, Capcom’s core Digital Contents business delivered sales of 22.6 million units for its home video game software, surpassing the 21.3 million units in sales in the same period of the previous year and significantly contributing to the value of the company’s brands", Capcom writes in an official press release. "The company achieved this with the release of major new titles in its flagship series, including Street Fighter 6, as well as through pursuing catalog title sales digitally, which led to growth in sales volume globally."

Other updated top-selling Capcom franchises include the Monster Hunter series, which has now sold 95 million units worldwide, the Street Fighter franchise at 52 million, the Mega Man series at 41 million units globally, and the Devil May Cry franchise at 30
