An impressive original Resident Evil fan-made remake is currently in the works, and it looks fantastic in a new trailer shared online today.
The trailer, which was shared on YouTube by RE Biohazard, highlights how developer team ARKLAY is masterfully using Unreal Engine 5 to enhance the game's visuals and atmosphere over the remake released a few years back while retaining the original game's feel with the fixed camera angles. Unfortunately, it seems like it will be a while before we will be able to try out this remake ourselves, as a release date for a demo and the full game are not expected to be revealed anytime soon.
2023 has been a great year for the Resident Evil series, thanks to the release of the excellent remake of Resident Evil 4, which was expanded in September with the Separate Ways DLC, which Nathan found to be bolder than the base game.
Is Resident Evil 4 Separate Ways on the same level as the game’s core campaign? Not quite, but I laud Capcom’s decision to chart a ballsy new path with this DLC. There are moments in Separate Ways that hit just as hard as anything in the main Resident Evil remake, largely due to the element of surprise. I didn’t always know what Capcom was going to throw at me and that’s a great thing for this kind of action-horror rollercoaster. At only $10, Separate Ways is a fantastic value, and an Ada-on not to be missed.
What's next for the series after the Resident Evil 4 remake, no one can say at the moment. According to rumors, the ninth entry in the series will bring a close to the story arc that began with the seventh entry while not being a direct sequel to Village.
