Ubisoft’s pirate action-adventure game remains landlocked with another delay. The publisher has pushed the troubled game’s release window back to early 2024.
The French publisher gave its yearly earnings report on October 26th, revealing that Ubisoft delayed Skull and Bones to Q4 2024. This means that the game should launch sometime between the start of January and the end of March 2024. While two-and-a-half to five months isn’t that much of an additional wait, this is far from the game’s first significant delay.
Ubisoft announced Skull and Bones in 2017, and it was supposed to launch the following year. However, the game faced multiple setbacks and changes in direction, leading to no fewer than six delays. Skull and Bones’ previous delay saw it pushed back to 2023. The latest postponement is no doubt disappointing for some but not terribly surprising. Hopefully, Ubisoft actually manages to get Skull and Bones out by the end of March, but only time will tell.
Skull and Bones is not the only Ubisoft game behind schedule. The company previously hinted at another big 2023 release, which some believe is Star Wars: Outlaws. Whatever it is, Ubisoft has delayed it to 2024.
The good news is that Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora and Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown appear to be on track. Frontiers of Pandora was initially supposed to come out last year, but Ubisoft delayed it to this December. Meanwhile, The Lost Crown should launch in January. Finally, XDefiant escaped its indefinite delay and should launch before the end of March.
