Cygames and Arc System Works have announced that Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising has been delayed. The follow-up to the 2020 fighting game based on Cygames’ mobile RPG is now releasing on December 14th instead of November 30th.
In a new statement, creative director Tetsuya Fukuhara revealed that the development team has “pulled out all the stops to rework the game’s mechanics and battle design in time for the initially scheduled release date” since the first beta in July. However, he felt it needed more time to put the “finishing touches” on the game.
After revealing the changes to its system and balance last month, which was met positively, Fukuhara said the impact was “much larger than anticipated,” affecting several modes. The team decided that “to meet player expectations, we would need two more weeks of polish and debugging to put out a truly high-quality product. We regret announcing this as the second beta is just around the corner, but please rest assured that the beta schedule has not changed.”
The open beta runs from November 9th to 12th with cross-platform play enabled. The “Granblue Showcase: Part 2 – Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising“, however, is postponed and will now air on December 2nd. It will provide “the latest news” on the title while featuring a tournament between development team members.
Stay tuned for other details from the showcase when it airs. Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising is coming to PS4, PS5 and PC.
