Destiny 2 The Final Shape has been touted as the finale of the light versus dark saga that has been raging on within the world since the inception of the game.
However, before players are able to dive into the expansion, it’s going to have to wait a little longer amid news within Bungie.
The Final Shape is where all the work Bungie has put in over the years comes to an end, and one can assume it will lead right into a brand new Destiny project, or Destiny 3.
With Cayde-6’s returning in the new DLC, fans of the franchise are amped to experience the conclusion of the saga, but with the previously announced release date of February 2024, this has now been changed amid unfortunate news within Bungie.
The company has now laid off a significant portion of its workforce, as Bloomberg reports, which extends across multiple sectors of PlayStation itself. This, in turn, has affected the release date of The Final Shape and has pushed it back towards an unannounced date in June of 2024.

Bungie has not made any comment on the layoffs or the unannounced delay of both The Final Shape and their other announced future title, Marathon. However, given the impact of the layoffs, and the sheer volume we’ve seen in the gaming industry over the year, this does not come as much of a surprise.
