I’ve been around the Destiny 2 block long enough to have experienced that the vast majority of past seasons don’t get any marketing, or a revealed name, until the hour that it comes out. I’m pleasantly surprised to see Destiny 2 Season of the Wish get marketing, but I’m still in the dark about the status of The Final Shape.
A few weeks ago, we learned through fired employees that Bungie let go around 100 of their staff, including Micheal Salvatori, long-time Bungie composer for everything from Halo 1 to Destiny 2 Lightfall (I’m still reeling from that). We also learned from leaks and data mining that Destiny 2 The Final Shape, the last expansion of the Light and Darkness Saga and maybe the end of Destiny 2, got delayed to June 2024.

The unofficial report that the entire Destiny 2 community knows about has yet to be confirmed by Bungie, and I’m still waiting. They shrugged off their cutbacks in the latest TWID and they failed to mention when we can expect The Final Shape. Oh, but Season of the Wish actually has real marketing, so I guess all is forgiven. The confusion continues with the latest press release from Bungie. In it, Bungie says that Season of the Wish is the final season before we get The Final Shape which “launches on February 27, 2024, with all-new Episodes to follow.” Was this a slip up or is The Final Shape still planned for its original release date of February 2024?
