Sony has finally unveiled the LYT-900 camera sensor. If you have not heard about this sensor, then this is the flagship sensor of the company that has been making rounds in the past, and we are going to start seeing it in flagships that will be released soon.
The Sony LYT-900 is a 1-inch-type sensor and has a 1.6um pixel size. Alleged reports have talked about this being just a tweaked version of the Sony IMX989 sensor that debuted last year, but even then, it is still a powerful sensor that should deliver solid performance all around.
The LYT-900 is a successor to the LYT-808 series that is found in the OnePlus 12 and some other phones. The new sensor should be debuting in the OPPO Find X7 Pro as well as the Xiaomi 14 Ultra. Sadly, we will possibly not be seeing this sensor in Samsung phones.
Sony has not shared a lot of details about the LYT-900. However, we do know about the sensor and the pixel size. These specs alone make this an excellent sensor, and we will get to know more about it when the phones sporting this sensor are out on the market. It is also worth noting that the camera sensor in a smartphone has to rely a lot on the software as well, so I am really hoping that OPPO and Xiaomi phones are well-equipped in the software department to handle these things.
As far as the OPPO X7 Pro and the Xiaomi 14 Ultra are concerned, they are both slated to release sometime next year. We don't have the dates right now, but considering how we are almost halfway through December, we are going to learn more about the devices in the coming weeks and will keep you posted as we receive more information on the devices and the Sony LYT-900.
