Marvel Snap’s first major balance patch of the New Year arrived this week and it could be one to significantly upend the game’s meta.
The first major change is one being made to Loki who now transforms, not replaces, your hand with your opponent’s cards. This may sound like semantics but it’s significant in that transforming your hand instead of replacing it disables the synergy between Loki and The Collector, who has been a staple of Loki decks since his introduction to the game last year.
Ms. Marvel, another ubiquitous card in the meta, got hit a bit with the nerf bat as well. She lost a single point of total power and now has additional conditions required (two cards in a location instead of one) to activate her ability to buff locations with +5 Power.
Annihilus, the lynchpin of the junk archetype, has been adjusted, too. Now Annihilus will have his power reduced by one to make him a 5/6 and he also will no longer be able to send cards with 0 power (such as rocks) over to your opponent’s side.
A couple of smaller but still significant changes were made to the cards Dracula and Quake.
Dracula will now start with 1 power and will gain and not replace his power with the card he discards, allowing him to be buffed by other cards or locations (but also making him susceptible to power debuffs).
Quake can now swap the other two locations on the board and have her effect triggered anywhere instead of only when played in the middle location. This should allow her to be a potential counter to Storm or Legion.
