While it initially seemed like Final Fantasy XVI wouldn’t get any DLC, this week at The Game Awards it was announced the game will be getting a pair of story expansions, with the first, entitled “Echoes of the Fallen,” being available right now!
Echoes of the Fallen offers up a new dungeon to tackle, bosses to fight, and a variety of gear to collect, which begs the question – is it possible to miss any of it? The core Final Fantasy XVI did indeed have some sidequests and rewards you could miss out on, so does the same hold true with Echoes of the Fallen? Scroll onward for the answer…
So, the answer is NO, there is no missable content… for the most part. Allow me to explain.
You can replay Final Fantasy XVI: Echoes of the Fallen’s main Sagespire dungeon any time using Stage Replay mode. Simply go to the Arte stone in the Hideaway to access this feature. Stage Replay will allow you to grab any gear you might have missed, including the six Fallen Bit accessories (here’s our guide on where those can be found).
That said, there is one way to screw up and miss out some kickass gear. After you’ve defeated Echoes of the Fallen’s final boss, you can head to the blacksmith in the Hideaway in order to craft some powerful stuff, including the Omega Weapon (this will unlock the My Reward is With Me trophy). The Omega Weapon requires you to have the Fallen Enforcer, Omega Nodule, Living Tissue, and Aqueous Humours crafting materials. These will all be acquired in the normal course of playing the DLC, but it is possible to screw yourself over by selling them before you craft the Omega Weapon. So yeah, don’t do that.
