Critically acclaimed RPG Baldur’s Gate 3 arrived on Xbox Series X/S last month, but it wasn’t without issues. Players reported a bug that caused hours of progress to not save, which persisted for weeks. On further investigation, Larian Studios discovered it was due to an Xbox firmware issue.
A workaround is available, but a fix will be available on January 16th. Per the developer, “Microsoft has identified the cause of the save bug on Xbox and will be issuing a firmware update to fix it!” Players can update their console manually when it’s live to have it take effect or wait for it to roll out globally the week after.
There is a caveat. Larian hasn’t independently verified if the fix works, and though it’s “optimistic” that Microsoft has resolved the issue, it may be worth waiting for impressions before manually updating. Stay tuned next week for any potential updates.
Baldur’s Gate 3 is also available for PS5 and PC. The latest hotfix is live and allows for using certain quest items without having them in your inventory. It also adds categories to Waypoints, allowing one to sort them by location.
