With all episodes of Marvel’s latest series streaming on Disney Plus, fans are left asking if has an that they should wait for. Is there any set-up for the future, and what is it? Here’s all you need to know.
MCU movies have become so well-known for their post-credits scenes that they’ve doubled down on them. Two scenes are now the usual norm where one of them plays between the credits and the other arrives right at the end of the credits. One of the sequences is usually a gag while the other sets up future events.
But with Echo being a Disney Plus series, it only features a single mid-credits scene, which sets up an arc in another upcoming series. So, viewers don’t have to go all the way to the end of the credits as the scene plays after the first part of the credits is done.
In the final sequence, we see Kingpin on his private jet talking about stabilizing the situation after what happened at the end of Echo. As he talks about setting up a meeting with other mob bosses, his attention moves to a news debate about there being no clear frontrunner for Mayor.
He hears talks about the city’s people not being happy about the way things are with the constant vigilantism and threats that loom over them. The Spectrum News hosts also talk about voters wanting a “fighter” and a “bare-knuckle brawler.” They need an outsider who could come in to challenge career politics and the overall establishment. Kingpin sees himself to be that candidate right before the screen cuts to black.
So, this sets up his Mayoral candidacy in Daredevil: Born Again, which could lead to his election as the Mayor of New York City, similar to the comics. That way he would become someone with real power and pose an even bigger threat than he already does.
